Maryland’s statewide minimum wage reached $15.00 per hour on January 1, 2024, completing a five-year phase-in that began with the Maryland Minimum Wage Act of 2019. This calculator lets you see exactly what that rate — or any wage you enter — means in take-home gross pay weekly, monthly, and annually, with full overtime support.

How it works

Enter your hourly wage (preset to $15.00) and the number of hours you work per week. The calculator splits your hours into regular time (up to 40 hours) and overtime (anything above 40 hours). Each overtime hour is worth 1.5 times your regular rate under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Pay is then rolled up three ways:

  • Weekly gross — regular pay plus any overtime for that week.
  • Monthly gross — weekly gross multiplied by 52 and divided by 12, giving the exact average monthly figure regardless of how many weeks fall in a calendar month.
  • Annual gross — weekly gross multiplied by 52 weeks.

A second panel compares your annual earnings to what a worker on the federal minimum of $7.25 per hour would earn at the same hours, so you can see at a glance how much Maryland’s higher state floor is worth over a full year.

Worked example — Maryland minimum wage, full-time with overtime

A full-time worker earning exactly Maryland’s minimum wage of $15.00/hour who regularly works 45 hours a week (5 hours overtime):

ComponentHoursRateAmount
Regular pay40 h$15.00$600.00
Overtime pay5 h$22.50 (1.5x)$112.50
Weekly gross$712.50
Monthly gross (x 52 / 12)$3,087.50
Annual gross$37,050.00

Compare that to a worker at the federal minimum of $7.25/hour for the same 45 hours: the federal worker earns $17,981.00 per year — Maryland’s law puts an extra $19,069 per year in that worker’s pocket.

Maryland’s $15.00 minimum wage in context

Maryland was among the first states to legislate a $15 statewide minimum wage. The 2019 Maryland Minimum Wage Act set a glide path: $11.00 (2020), $11.75 (2021), $12.50 (2022), $13.25 (2023), and finally $15.00 for all employers from January 1, 2024. The prior two-tier system — which briefly had large employers (15 or more workers) ahead of small employers — ended when both converged at $15.00.

Two Maryland counties now exceed the state floor. Montgomery County and Prince George’s County both moved above $17.00 per hour in mid-2024 under their own county wage ordinances. If you work in either county, update the hourly wage field to your actual county-mandated rate to see accurate county-level figures.
